“The experience was fantastic, and exceeded even my highest expectations and wishes!
My staff was stunned, surprised, and enveloped by the magic. They are still talking about it, and subsequent Fridays have been quite boring. It has provided an incredibly strong frame of reference for those who attended, and we are all working together to make the beat go on!”

Wellness
Discover the guiding power of rhythm through life experiences such as: special ceremonies, personal empowerment, building relationships, managing stress, grief and loss.

Science is finally catching up to the wisdom of our ancestors. Drum Café will lead participants on a journey of discovering universal metaphors relating to the rhythm of life.

Incorporating fun and non-judgmental self-expression, Wellness Drumming is not about learning how to play; it’s about participants giving themselves permission to play. They will experience transformation through giving and receiving support that is drawn from diverse backgrounds, cultures and beliefs.

Wellness drumming is collaborative and is tailored to meet the group’s purpose, need and goals.

Restorative
Drum Café also works with special populations such as seniors and those with developmental concerns. We focus on children and adults who experience physical, social, mental & emotional challenges.

Rhythm is a basic component to every natural living process. All people have natural rhythm, which often freezes due to unnatural and traumatic events. Drumming unlocks our natural right to feel alive and free.

Drumming has been used for centuries to release emotional stress, raise the spirits, enhance clarity and focus, develop co-operation and community bonds and celebrate significant events.

In a restorative context:

  • Everyone can beat on a drum (requires no skill) and this gives participants a great sense of competence, which in turn enhances self-esteem
  • Participants experience a great sense of belonging.
  • Drumming enables the participant to disengage from mental activity. Drumming brings participants into the present moment, which is a relief from mental stress. It can be equated to a form of meditation.
  • Drumming frees up trapped creative energy and leaves participants with a sense of freedom, joy and an appreciation of life.
  • Drumming can be used as a constructive way to release aggression and transform destructive urges into creativity.
  • For Senior Citizens, drumming increases a sense of in connectedness, brain stimulation, and enhances mood and mobility.
For people with learning disabilities, drumming builds self-esteem, and is an alternative methods for learning math, reading and social skills.
